SHIMLA: Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh died at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla on Thursday. He was 87. He was on ventilator support after his health deteriorated from last two days. On April 30, he was admitted to the hospital after recovering from Covid-19.
Dr Janak Raj Pakhretia of the hospital said “Singh died at around 4 am. After cardiopulmonary arrest, he was declared dead.” Pakhretia said that after embalming the body would be handed over to family members. Virbhadra Singh was tested positive for Covid-19 twice and had recovered but later he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia he said.
“After his health deteriorated he was shifted on a ventilator but could not recover. We feel sorry that despite our best efforts we could not save his life,” the doctor added.
