The athletes in Haryana state, especially in the field of wrestling both male and females are popular not only in the country but all over in world bagging medals in national and international games bringing name and fame for the state as well as country. Sadly, wresters in Haryana state are being addicted to very harmful injections and tablets used for building stamina in the body being supplied by a chain of suppliers at Delhi as well as in Haryana state. Haryana State Narcotic Bureau recently has been successful in busting a chain of suppliers with the arrest of four persons and recovered 1995 Pentazocine injection so far hoping to seize huge stocks of these harmful drugs soon. According to information, youths belonging to rural areas in Haryana state are adopting wrestling as their profession because Haryana state government is providing large employment opportunities to athletes in government jobs in the state as such there are large number of wrestling ‘Ahata’ mushrooming in rural areas in Haryana state at present preparing wrestlers.
On getting complaints as regard use of Pentazocine, Anabolic Steroid, Androstene and Human Growth Hormones (HGH) injections and tablets by youth wrestlers to build stamina, energy and strengthen muscles in their body by youths practicing for wrestling in ‘Ahata’ in rural areas they are becoming addicted to these harmful drugs Talking to Media persons Varinder Saini DSP told that on a clue Narcotic Bureau team conducted raid at a ‘Akhada’ at village Kaith in Panipat district and recovered 145 Pentazocine injections from Kaushal a national level wrestler used to take as well as supply these injections to practicing youths in the ‘Akhada’ in the area and arrested him. During police investigation, he admitted supplying injections purchased from Raju Shukla running a Pharmacy shop at Karolbagh New Delhi.
Narcotic Bureau team during a raid arrested Raju Shukla who disclosed that he had purchased injections from a drug supplier Abdul Rahim a resident of Bara Hindu Rao at Delhi and during raid police team recovered 900 Pentazocine injections along with huge currency notes from him. Abdul Rahim during preliminary investigation disclosed that he used to procure stocks of injections as and when required from Ranjit alias Raju. Narcotic Bureau team finally arrested Ravi resident of Gharaunda in Karnal district used to supply stamina injections to wrestlers of different wrestling ‘Akhada’ as well as to few athletes in Haryana state.Investigation also revealed that wrestler Kaushal had also given 55 Pentazocine injections to Ravi for supply to wrestlers in other ‘Akhada’ in the area. Varinder Saini DSP told that police has already seized 1945 stamina injections so far and the arrested four accused has been sent to judicial custody in jail. He told that Haryana Narcotic Bureau has detected that a chain of suppliers of such extremely harmful drugs is active at Delhi and Haryana. He said, based on the information, Narcotic Bureau is likely to arrest few more suppliers and likely to recover nearly 2000 injections soon to save wrestler youths getting addicted to these harmful drugs.
