‘Free Zone’ turned as ‘Mafia Zone” harming industry in Haryana: HCCI

-SATISH HANDA

Demanding peaceful atmosphere to boost industry in Haryana state, Chairman of Haryana Chamber of Commerce & Industry (HCCI) Panipat Chapter Vinod Khandelawal said, the industry entrepreneurs in the state are suffering a lot and unable to concentrate in production work due to frequent disturbances since ‘Free Zone’ has become a ‘Mafia Zone’ as well as lack of cooperation by the concerned  government departments  to business community in the state.

Pointing at the recent farmers agitation, Khandelwal expressed deep concern over industry suffering a lot since all borders are sealed since past over two months due to farmers agitation and it takes more than five hours to cover a distance of less than 80 km while going to or coming from Delhi. He said, there are thousands of industrial units at Panipat and owners as well as employees of large number of units working at Panipat industries are facing lot of harassment while coming to join duty several hours late and going back to home everyday. Khandelwal said, the industry in the textile town Panipat, especially manufacturers of blanket has already suffered heavy financial loss during present peak winter season in the absence of not getting raw material timely, late supplies due to transport system collapsed and labour problem when more than 50% workers failed to join duty everyday due to farmers agitation. He said, internet services too remained paralysed many times.

Khandelwal said, claims made by the state government to support industry in the state having single window system under a roof for the convenience of entrepreneurs are untrue since no relief is available to entrepreneurs setting up or having industry in the state by the concerned government departments including industry, labour, pollution, electricity and others causing harassment as complained by them as such many start ups drop the idea to set up industry in the state, Khandelwal said on-line services introduced by the government to provide relief to industry entrepreneurs, too, are merely an eye wash since files remain hanging from one table to another or remain dumped without any action for a long time unless concerned staff in the department are not obliged.
