Gang collecting road tax on highways in Haryana through fake receipts busted

On getting complaint from State Home Minister Anil Vij in which state road tax was collected from a tourist bus (Registration No. AP31TV1657) carrying 41 passengers visiting different religious places near Karnal by a fake racket functioning in the state as members of RTA Haryana collected Rs 62500 towards fine (which was later reduced to Rs 50000) from bus driver identified as Shaukat Ali resident of Nizamabad in Telgana when his bus carrying pilgrims entered Haryana after visiting Mathura in U.P was stopped by RTA (Regional Transport Authority) team checking all commercial vehicles arriving from other states near Ambala found that road tax receipt produced by the driver of tourist bus was fake and impounded the vehicle leaving travelling bus passengers at Ambala Cantt bus stand remain stranded at the bus stand whole night.

 Ramit Kumar RTA Ambala told media persons that police arrived from Parao police station Ambala Cantt started investigation immediately as per directions by Home Minister and arrested a member of the gang identified as Amit issued fake receipt and a case was registered against him. During preliminary investigation police recovered names four other members of the gang from Amit’s mobile phone identified as Amit Khatri, Rahul Chauhan, Ajay Kumar and Manoj Sarot and started their search.

RTA investigation revealed that a gang of 6 to 10 members in the racket collecting Rs 1250 as state road tax from commercial vehicles from other states visiting Haryana at different highways in the state and cheating the drivers on the basis of issuing fake receipts. Information reveals that gang members were usually operating from small cabins installed near the petrol pumps usually identifying themselves also to check pollution in automobiles. SHO Parao police station Ambala Cantt said that all accused will be trapped in police net soon.
