Kaithal: Police arrested four persons of a family: father Raj Kumar (42), two sons Karan Singh (19) and Vikram Singh (21) all residents of Tibba Basti , Patra in Patiala district (Punjab) and son-in-law Amandeep (23) resident of Chhoi Hindoli in Sangrur district allegedly involved in a transformer thefts gang, who during preliminary investigation after arrest admitted as many as 154 cases of transformers in agriculture land and submersible motors at tubewell theft in the area and sold copper wire to disposal goods dealers at different places. Raj Kumar used to visit various transformer locations during day time on his motorcycle. Talking to media persons, Upasana, Superintendent of Police, Kaithal said that the police arrested Amandeep Singh and Vikram on May 7 and took their eight-day police remand. Based on their inputs, the police arrested the remaining two on May 10 and they were also remanded to police custody for five-day. The arrested accused said that they used to sell most of the stolen copper wires to a scrap dealer in Patra in Patiala who was also taken into custody by the police. SP said that a complaint was lodged by Roshan Lal a resident of village Duser Pur at Guhla police station on May 1 this year that unidentified burglars had stolen copper wire from three transformers installed in his agriculture farms on May 1 night and the case was handed over to Inspector Mohinder Singh of CIA Staff and his team reached up to the accused with the help of footage in CCTV cameras with the help of cyber cell.
