Gold worth Rs. 17.77 Lakhs confiscated at SGRDJI Airport

Amritsar, October 7 –  The Customs Department at Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport has seized  336 Grams gold worth Rs. 17.77 Lakhs.

A statement issued here today by the Customs department said that based on inputs Customs  staff of SGRDJI Airport, Amritsar, intercepted two passengers, who arrived on domestic flight from Mumbai to Amritsar on Indigo flight No. 6E6072. On examination of their cabin bags, Customs officers recovered 401 gms gold  paste.  A total of 336 Grams gold of 24 Kt purity valued Rs. 17.77 Lakhs was extracted from the paste.

On further interrogation, it was disclosed that said Gold was smuggled from Dubai to Mumbai in the same aircraft and these two  passengers boarded in the aircraft at Mumbai and took the delivery of said gold from the aircraft.  Gold weighing 336 gms valued Rs. 17.77 Lakhs has been placed under seizure being liable to confiscation, said Custom official. —
