Gold worth Rs. 47.45 lakhs seized at Airport

Amritsar:  Gold worth Rs 47.45 lakh seized at Shri Guru Ramdas ji International Airport  from the passenger who arrived here from Sharjah.

In a statement issued here today, Customs official said that Customs staff of SGRD JI International Airport, Amritsar intercepted one passenger coming from Sharjah by Indigo 6E1428 flight in the evening of 15th  June.

He further stated that on personal search of the passenger, three white capsules were found hidden inside his rectum weighing 1072 grams. The recovered gold from the said 3 white capsules is 778 grams and market value of the said gold is Rs. 47.45 lakhs. The same was seized under section 110 of Custom Act, 1962. Further investigation is under process.
