Amritsar : The Customs department has seized Gold worth Rs. 86,41,200 with the arrest of a passenger at Shri Guru Ramdas ji International Airport


13 March 2023 Amritsar Amritsar airport customs arrested a person & seized 13 gold biscuits weighing 15.16 gm valued over Rs 86 lakhs hidden in liquor bottles at Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport on the outskirts of Amritsar on Monday. PHOTO-PRABHJOT GILL-AMRITSAR

In a statement issued here today, official stated that on the basis of profiling and suspicious activity, one passenger coming from Sharjah via Indigo Flight No. 6E48 dt 12.03.2023 was intercepted by Customs officials. On searching his belongings, 13 Gold Biscuits weighing altogether 1516 grams having market value of Rs. 86,41,200/- were found concealed in three liquor bottles.

The Gold has been seized and the passenger has been arrested. Further investigations are in progress, said the official.
