Ambala: Addressing a press conference here, District President of Haryana Vyapar Mandal Niru Vadhera expressed deep concern over worsening law and order situation in the state, witnessed large number of cases in past sometime in which several people in trade and industry were robbed, shot dead in firing incidents by the anti-social elements, including a recent case in which Vikram Verma a jeweler was attempted robbing at Nahoni in Ambala district while on way to home. Devinder Verma, General Secretary of the association said that there is immediate need for the security of business community in the state.
Vadhera strongly condemned financial burden over the business community due to increase in taxes in the state. He said, ruling government speaks of ‘easy doing’ but in actual it is not so, and the government has come on ‘back foot’ to roll back taxes on fruit as well as general merchants. Mohinder Juneja Secreary of the Vyapar Mandal demanded demanded maximum facilities to the businessmen in the state providing huge revenue to the government in the shape of taxes.
Vedhera said that nearly 80% small industrial units located in rural area have become either completely sick or closed down due to lack of support by the government. He suggested that these units should be provided interest-free loans, land at cheaper rates and rebate in GST to remain alive. Vadhera said that once largest mixi-juicer industry in Ambala City having more than 400 manufacturing units in the town was famous in the country, which have now been squeezed to hardly 40-50 mmanufacturing units due to lack of government support. He demanded reduction in GST on this industry from18% at present to 5% with immediate effect.
Haryana Vyapar Mandal leader said that the wholesale cloth market in Ambala City ranking as the biggest in Asia, too, facing lapses by the government, usually witnessing flood situation in rainy season due to lacking drainage system, apart from large number of fire incidents are reported frequently due to faulty electricity wiring system in the market, causing loss worth crores of rupees to the shopkeepers frequently. He said that in-spite of repaeted requests to the local administration no action is being taken in this regard.
