GOVERNOR PUNJAB FLAGS OFF ANTI DRUG RALLY

CHANDIGARH, OCTOBER 3 : As a part of the ongoing war against drugs and carrying forward the State Government’s initiative to completely eradicate this evil, the Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Sh. V.P.Singh Badnore today flagged off an Anti Drug Rally with a theme “Run for a Cause” from outside Punjab Raj Bhawan. The rally was organized by the Aryans Group of Colleges. Thousands of students of Engineering, Law, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Education, Nursing, Management, Polytechnic etc participated in short Run.
While addressing the Youth, the Governor cautioned that this deadly menace is slowly gripping our younger generation and there is an urgent need to launch a decisive and effective battle against this menace.
The Governor said the eradication of drugs has been taken up as a mission. He had recently presided over a seminar against Drugs in Faridkot where local Police Administration along with the students of Universities and colleges expressed their views on this subject of extreme importance. He said the level of awareness amongst the youth against drugs was amazing. “It is high time to come together to fight this threat”.
The Governor called upon the political parties irrespective of their party affiliations, district Police and Civil Administration, Educational Institutions and parents should come jointly on a common platform and effectively take up the task to wipe out drugs from our society. He said he would himself visit every nook and corner of the state to undertake this task. “We need support of every section of the society to save our younger generation from this deadly menace”.
Sh. Madan Lal Jalalpur, MLA, Ghanaur was the Guest of Honour on the occasion while Dr. On the occasion, students not only ran for this cause from Punjab Raj Bhawan to Sukhna Lake but also performed Flash Mob Dance in support of Anti Drug Campaign.
Dr. Anshu Kataria while congratulating & motivating the students said that we have to divert the mind of youth from drugs towards other recreational activities. He appealed the youth of Punjab to join this campaign to make Punjab drug free.
Sh. Aninash Rai Khanna, Sh. Vineet Joshi, Sh. J.M.Balamurugan, Secretary to Governor, Shri K.B Singh, DIG, ADC; Major M. Jayanth Kumar, ADC; Prof. B.S Sidhu, Director, Prof A.P Jain, Dean, Dr. Raman Rani Gupta, Principal, Mr. Steven, Dean Academics of Aryans Group were also present on the occasion.
