Jind: Farmer leaders from four states on Tuesday supported Dallewal, the farmer leader who is on a hunger strike at Khanauri border demanding minimum support price (MSP}. The government was warned by holding a press conference at Jat Dharamshala in Jind by the leaders of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, Janata Sarkar Morcha, Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh from Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha and and Bundelkhan also participated in it. Farmer leader Shivkumar Kakka from Madhya Pradesh said that the government should soon hold talks with Jagjit Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike at Khanauri border and fulfill the demands of the farmers. He warned that If their demands are not met soon, this movement will not only spread to Punjab and Haryana, but across the country. All the farmer organizations of the country are together on the issue of MSP.
Farmer leaders KV Biju from Kerala, Sachin Mahapatra from Odisha, Manish Raja from Bundelkhand were present in this meeting. Kakka said that the government is reneging on its promise and MSP is not being implemented, which is a breach of promise with the farmers. The government should give up its stubbornness and take the talks forward with the farmers. Biju, who came from Kerala, said that two days ago, Home Minister Amit Shah gave a statement about MSP that MSP has increased by 40 percent, which is baseless. Sachin Mahapatra from Odisha and Manish Raja from Bundelkhand said that if the government does not end Jagjit Dallewal fast by holding talks immediately, then they will also start a movement in their state and this movement can spread across the country.
Farmer leader Akshay Narwal said that all leaders need to have a big heart to fight a big movement. Sandeep Chahal said that the issue of MSP is the issue of farmers of the whole country, so it is very important for all farmer organizations to gather on a platform. The government is saying that the solution can be found only through talks, but it is not coming forward for talks. It is not taking care of Jagjit Dallewal who has been on a fast unto death for the last 22 days. Akshay Narwal, Priyanka Kharkaramji, Sandeep Chahal, Narendra Bura, Sushil Narwal, Sumit Lathar were present on this occasion.
Information reveals that in the Lok Sabha session, Deepender Hooda MP had raised the issue regarding MSP guarantee law. He said, when the government assures MSP then why hesitate to frame a law in this regard. He raised a question over what is the harm if 101 farmers want to put their demand at Delhi. Meanwhile, former Agriculture Minister Haryana said that the state government in Haryana is procuring 24 crops on MSP, then why is the government not procuring the same at MSP in Punjab also. He said, BJP government in Haryana has given Rs 12,400 crore compensation to the farmers in the past 10 years.
