Gulmarg will host the third edition of the Khelo India Winter Games. The big sporting event is set to begin on February 10, and is projected to draw over 1500 participants.
Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, and Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of J&K, recently inaugurated the 3rd Khelo India National Winter Games Anthem, Mascot, and Jersey.
They termed Gulmarg a “Sports City,” saying the resort would be able to welcome the largest number of 1500 players from across the country.
The first “Khelo India Winter Games” were held in February and March 2020 at Leh and Gulmarg. The inaugural event in India was held to promote winter sports such as skiing, Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, snow rugby, ice stock sport, snow baseball, climbing, snowshoe running, ice hockey, figure skating, and speed skating.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2021 virtually inaugurated the second edition of the “Khelo India Winter Games” held at Gulmarg.
