New Delhi : A play based on the life of Freedom fighter Vinayak Damodardas Savarkar  popularly known as veer savarkar was presented in Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi on 14 th October. The struggle and sacrifices of our Freedom Fighters cannot be ignored. Keeping in mind the struggle and ideas of Veer Savarkar, Writer Rishi Sahni wrote a script on him under the guidance of Mr. Pramod Kumar Kashyap. Rishi sahni believes Savarkar’s role in the freedom struggle was not only different but dominant. We would have gained independence much before if we had fought with Britishers, because of which Savarkar is known as a revolutionary Freedom fighter. 

Veer Savarkar was not in favour of dividing India. This Play on Savarkar starts from his birth, to his interest in writing poetries, his college life, London visit on scholarship and his association with Bal Gangadhar Tilak and some prominent leaders of that time. It  ends on his struggle in Andaman jail.

Actor Shashank Sasha perfectly embodies the freedom fighter and made a good attempt to put across thoughts and philosophies by presenting some major events of his life.  His role in putting India’s independence on International forum was also narrated in the play.

This play is receiving laurels from the public and the entire team is happy and excited with the good response of the audiences. They are planning to stage this play again on some other platform. The Director of the play is Rishi Sahni and Assistant Director is Ankit Malik.
