Haryana declares high alert against terrorism

Chandigarh: In view of recent incidents of terrorist activities in Haryana including arrest of four terrorists along with recovery of explosive material at Karnal, recovery of hand grenades manufactured in Pakistan near Ambala and incident of attack on the office of  Punjab Police Intelligence Wing at Mohali in neighbouring Punjab state, Haryana government has constituted a Anti-terrorist Wing in the state comprising of senior police officers of SP and DIG ranks declaring high alert against terrorism in the state.

In a recent meeting held at Chandigarh presided by Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij in which state Home Secretary Rajiv Arora and DGP Haryana P.K. Aggarwal alongwith several senior police officers in the state were also present, Vij announced formation of wing to wipe out terrorism from the state, provide security to the residents in Haryana state, keep strict watch over the activities of anti-social elements in the state and search for key persons functioning as mastermind involved in anti-social activities including those trying to harm internet media network making announcements against the country and disturb peace through terrorism especially in thickly populated areas. Vij said, there is a proposal to install night vision CCTV cameras in highly sensitive areas, in court complex, near government office s, bus stands, railway station, mauls, hotels, hospitals, cinema halls, thickly populated public places and markets.

Among other senior police bureaucrats present in the meeting were Alok Mittal  Additional Director General CID, Srikant Jaghav Additional Director General Police Ambala cum State Narcotic Bureau, Kalramchandra Commissioner Police Gurugram, Vikas Arora Commissioner Police Faridabad and other senior police officers in the state. Decision was also taken to impose ban over sale of fake as well as pre-activated sim cards with immediate effect and all police officers in districts were directed to keep strict watch over the activities of mobile phone dealers in view of increasing cases of on-line frauds. DGP Haryana P.K. Aggarwal suggested campaigns to bring awareness among public to avoid such frauds. Aggarwal suggested police stations all over in the state should carry identity verification of all tenants as well as servants in their area.
