Panchkula: During recent assembly polls in the state the political leaders of opposite parties strongly raised the issues regarding increasing crimes such as regard cheatings by fake immigration agents sending youth abroad, rising crimes against women and fast increasing drug smuggling and drug addiction among youths in the state.
Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur held a video conference with the senior police officers in the state including Inspectors General, Police Commissioners, and Superintendents of Police, to discuss measures for controlling violent crimes and further strengthening the capacity of Haryana Police. The meeting strongly reviewed two issues, ongoing anti-drug campaigns and actions against immigration frauds. DGP Kapur emphasized the importance of advanced weapons training for police officers to control violent crimes and ensure public safety. He directed police officials to select young officers in their districts and form batches for advanced weapons training, saying that it is crucial to equip our officers with high-quality training to handle weapons effectively in appropriate situations. Kapur stated, which is set to begin on October 21 and will last 7-10 days in the training centers at HPA Madhuban and PTC Sunaria selected for this purpose.
Addressing the issue of increasing fraud, DGP Kapur urged officers to take firm action against agents who deceive people under the pretext of sending them abroad. He stressed the need to break the nexus of fraudulent agents, particularly in 5-6 districts in the state. “We must act on all complaints and ensure that cases of fraud are dealt with according to the SOPs,” Kapur said, highlighting that under new laws, the properties of those found guilty of such fraud can be attached immediately. He directed all Superintendents of Police to personally monitor cases of immigration fraud, focusing on visa scams. He emphasized that such cases can have devastating consequences for young people, often leading them into criminal activities abroad. Information reveals, youths willing to settle abroad are trapped in the net of cheating immigration agents, at times arrested by the police abroad and a large number of such youths are locked in jails abroad. There are a number of cases in which such youths are robbed of money and are left in jungles on the way instead of their destination and there are large numbers of youths belonging to Haryana having no where about since a long time.
The DGP stressed the importance of thorough investigations and proper police action, including regular monitoring of key indicators like the number of FIRs lodged, criminals arrested, and amounts recovered. He highlighted the provisions in the new criminal laws allowing for the attachment of fraudsters’ properties involved in sending candidates abroad. The meeting also reviewed the progress of the anti-drug campaign across Haryana. DGP Kapur instructed Superintendents of Police to set clear goals to make villages and wards drug-free by December 31 this year. “We need to ensure that drugs do not enter our communities and that those addicted receive proper treatment,” he said, directing officers to form teams in each police station to lead the anti-drug efforts, conducting door-to-door visits and ensuring rehabilitation for those affected by drugs, stressing that both drug prevention and treatment must be pursued with equal focus to achieve a drug-free society.The Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar and several other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
