Haryana first state to have Narcotic Control Bureau to control drug smuggling

Chandigarh (Satish Handa): Increasing drug smuggling and drug addiction among youths in Haryana state is a matter of deep concern. Ambala has become a centre for drugs smuggling and supply been situated at the meeting point of several states in North. While talking to Home Minister Haryana Anil Vij, he said that state government is taking immediate action to control drug smuggling in the state and has decided to establish Narcotic Control Bureau in the state and Haryana would be the first state in the country to have such bureau.
Anil Vij said, there is plan to establish 17 units in the state to keep strict vigil on smuggling and sale of drugs in the state and police staff in this bureau will be equipped with arms, bullet proof jackets, cameras having strength of 380 policemen for which Haryana Staff Selection Commission has been informed to make necessary appointments. Vij told that, a couple of days ago a meeting was held at Chandigarh in which ACS Home Vijay Vardhan, DGP Haryana Manoj Yadav, Director General Crime Department Mohd Akil and ADGP Narcotic Control Bureau Shrikant Jadhav were present.
 Anil Vij said that the headquarter of proposed Narcotic Control Bueau will be set up at Madhuban (Karnal) and its control room at Panchkula. He said that the Bureau will comprise of an ADGP, an DIG, two SPs, three DSPs and a technical officer having total strength of 380 persons in the Bureau.,
