Chandigarh: The Haryana government is preparing to cancel about 3.25 lakh fake BPL ration cards in the state. Most of the holders of these cards have not taken ration for many months nor have they taken advantage of any government welfare scheme. The government will review the number of ration cards on May 1, after which these fake cards will be cancelled. Major action will be taken against fake BPL cards in Haryana who have been getting government benefits of schemes applicable for BPL families for the last several months. Such ration cards are either fake or they have been made to take advantage of the opportunity. Information reveals, the number of actual BPL card holders will be matched on May 1. The Chief Minister also released various types of pending pensions of nearly 57, 700 people.
On the first of every month, the government assesses the increase or decrease in the number of BPL cards. This time, after the assessment on May 1, the names of fake ration card holders can be removed from the list. During this period, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini released social security pension to 57 thousand 700 such people, which was pending for three to four months due to some reasons. This also includes a newly created pension. There were 51 lakh 97 thousand 984 BPL cards in Haryana on March 1 this year, whereas on April 1 this year, their number was reduced to 51 lakh 96 thousand 380, as such only 1604 cards were reduced between March 1 and April 1. Now on May 1, the number of ration cards will be reviewed, on the basis of which it will be known whether the number of BPL cards i.e. people living below the poverty line in the state has decreased or increased.
Meanwhile, it has come to the notice of Minister of State for Food and Supplies Rajesh Nagar that 3.25 lakh people have not used their BPL cards for the last several months and have not received any benefits. available for BPL families. According to information, the work of checking and verifying such BPL cards is likely to be completed by the end of this month, and on the basis of which these fake BPL card holders can be excluded from the list of real beneficiaries in the assessment will be done on May 1. The number of beneficiaries under 51 lakh 96 thousand 380 BPL families in Haryana state is 1 crore 97 lakh 13 thousand 944 as against the population of the state about three crore.
