Chandigarh Police have booked Haryana Sports Minister Sandeep Singh on charges of sexual harassment and wrongful confinement by a Junior athletic coach Shikhsha Dagar a resident of Sector 12 Panchkula who lodged a complaint with SSP Chandigarh Manisha Choudhary which was forwarded to Sector 26 police station for necessary action as well as investigation in the case against Sandeep Singh under five sections of IPC and constituted a three members SIT led by SDPO Palak to investigate this high profile case. Meanwhile, Sandeep Singh submitted his resignation from the chair of sports minister on January 1, 2023, however his other portfolio as a state minister will remain with him.
While addressing media persons in a press conference at his office, denying allegations Sandeep Singh known to be a favorite minister of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatter said that it was all a conspiracy by the leaders of political parties in opposition against him and expressed surprise over the complainant had a press conference to impose sexual harassment charges against him in his office of INLD Geeneral Secretary Abhey Singh Chautala who immediately contacted leader of opposition in Haryana Vidhan Sabha Bhupinder Singh Hooda former chief minister Haryana also a senior Congress leader also demanding stern action against him under a conspiracy. Sandeep Singh immediately had a meeting with the Speaker, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Dr. Gian Chand at his Sector 7 Chandigarh residence for about an hour. Meanwhile, Deputy Director Sports Department Haryana Kavita too had a press conference in her office stating that allegations made against him were false since I have always looked after, supported the players and staff, moreover the complainant the Junior Coach is having a doubtful character as seen in past also.
Director General Police Haryana P.K. Aggarwal have constituted a three members committee led by Mamta Singh ADGP Rohtak police range along with Surinder Pal DCP Panchkula and Vijay Singh Nehra ACP Panchkular to investigate the case and submit report, whereas Abhey Singh Chautala of INLD reacted over the same raising a question how a fair investigation is possible by police officers of the state against a state minister thus government is trying to save Sandeep Singh. Information reveals, Haryana Mahila Congress President Sudha Bhardwaj has demanded investigation in the case by a retired High Court judge. The complainant Junior Coach also met State Home Minister Anil Vij at his camp office Ambala on Sunday who assured her justice in this regard and will also speak to Sandeep Singh. Information reveals, Shikhsha Dagar has also requested Chief Minister Haryana for an appointment to listen to her grievances and take stern action against alleged accuse.
“There is an attempt to spoil my image. I hope there will be a thorough investigation into the false allegations leveled against me. I have handed over the responsibility of the Sports department to the Chief Minister until the report of the investigation comes out,” said Haryana Minister Sandeep Singh who is also a former Indian hockey team captain while talking to media. According to Ram Gopal DSP , in the matter of complaint made by a lady coach of Haryana against Sports Minister FIR dated 31.12.2022 under Sections 354, 354A, 354B, 342, 506 of the IPC has been registered at Police Station Sector 26, Chandigarh is being investigated. He said, the female coach submitted complaint against Sandeep Singh Haryana Sports Minister allegedly sexual assault on her at his residence cum camp office in Chandigarh when she went to submit some documents related to her job. He told that the complaint is being investigated for a fair probe. The minister, however, has dismissed the charge as baseless and has called for an independent probe. Information reveals that the complainant Junior coach was transferred from Panchkula to Jhajjer as such was highly disturbed. Now the report submitted by three members committee led by Mamta Singh IPS will decide the future political career of Sandeep Singh.
