Haryana state government has worked out a proposal to lease out all 47 hotel-restaurant complexes under Haryana Tourism Corporation in the state in private hands for a lease period period 20 to 25 years in view of heavy losses ranging between Rs 200 to 300 crore suffered by the corporation in past sometime. According to information, situation has further deteriorated during lock down period. Talking to media persons, Chairman Haryana Tourism Corporation Randhir Golan MLA said that pilot project of Haryana Tourism Rajhans Hotel at Faridabad would be the first complex to be leased out in private hands, followed by other tourism department hotels and restaurants all over in the state handed over to private players.
According to Kanwar Pal Gurjar State Tourism Minister, the decision has been taken to increase income of all tourism complexes in the state. Earlier, Tourism Department had taken decision to open counters for the sale of liquor at every tourism complex to earn extra income. According to information, Tourism complexes Red Bishop at Panchkula and Bahaurgarh complex are satisfactorily working identified as profit giving centres. Golan told media persons that a four members high level committee has been constituted headed by himself comprising of Vikas Yadav Managing Director Haryana Tourism, Rajiv Ranjan Director Tourism and Sophia Dahiya a senior officer in finance department to take immediate decisions independently for profitability of tourism department. .
In reply to a media question as regard staff working in Haryana tourism complexes, Golan assured that all class IV staff including waiters working in Haryana Tourism department most of them working in the department since past two to three decades will be adjusted in other departments or promoted in alternate departments in different categories. He said, decision has been taken not to suspend any workers in this department
