Health Department highlights the services in Haryana

The prosperity, social and financial development of a state as well as country depends upon the physically and mentally healthy residents. The Haryana state government is constantly trying to boost health services in the state both in naturopathy and allopathy sectors by opening medical colleges in every district across the state, and work on this project is going on in 11 districts. According to ‘Neeti Udyog’ report, Haryana state is ranked eleventh among 19 prominent states in the health sector in the country.

Information reveals that CT scan, MRI, hemo-dyalisis and Cath Lab services  are available in 17 government hospitals on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis, Cardiology services are available in four district hospitals in the state. According to the state health department, mapping in case of improvement in the coming three years and building high infrastructure in all government hospitals as regards shortage of staff, doctors, medical instruments and medicines is going on in the state, aiming to fulfill all shortages.  
According to the state health department information, there are 164 community health centres, 671 primary health centres, 186 urban small health centres and there is yet requirement of 4024 sub health centres in the state. Presently, there are 72 civil hospitals in urban areas and 121 community health centres, 530 primary health centres and 2729 sub health centres in the state.

Information reveals, there is acute shortage of medical and para-medical staff in government hospitals in Haryana state and in-spite of all efforts the vacant posts for medical officers could not be filled and out of total number of 4260 posts for doctors in government hospitals 1134 posts are lying vacant in these hospitals. Similarly, in the case of  374 senior medical officers in government hospitals 144 posts are lying vacant. Similar is the situation in case of para-medical staff having a large number of posts vacant in all hospitals in the state.  
Among prominent projects in the health sector in the state include implantation of kidney in PGIMS Rohtak, in which a facility for implantation of liver is also being introduced shortly. National Ayurved Institute with 100 Beds hospital has been started at Panchkula. Post-graduate Institute of Dental Science has been set up at Rohtak. Atal Cancer Care Centre, the first government hospital to treat cancer patients at much subsidised amount in Haryana state was set up at Ambala Cantt over a year ago providing services to the cancer patients in the state as well as arriving from neighboring states.

Ayush University has been set up at Kurukshetra. ESI hospitals with provision of 100 Beds have been set up in a few districts in the state. A government medical college has started functioning in Mewat district and works on Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Health Science University will be completed shortly.  There is a proposal to set up 500 Health & Wellness Centres in Haryana state. Cashless medical services are available to the famiies below poverty line in 556 hospitals across the state.
