Health department teams busted a racket involved in checking sex of unborn child

Naraingarh: Health department Kurukshetra and Ambala teams in joint raid at a house in Krishna Colony near civil hospital Naraingarh in Ambala district busted a gang involved in checking sex of unborn child in pregnant women and arrested three persons including two brokers identified as Gurmel Singh and Nirmal Singh both residents of Ambala district along with a woman Neelam owner of the house in Krishna Colony near the civil hospital Naraingarh where illegal pre-natal sex examination of unborn child was going on. However, the prime accused in the case, Purshottam, a so-called doctor,managed to escape along with the portable ultrasound machine. After registration of a case police started searching for the arrest of absconding accused.

The deal to determine sex of the unborn child was finalized at Rs 30,000 when Kurukshetra health department prepared a pregnant woman and handed over currency notes and both brokers took her to Naraingarh. Police recovered a Rs 500 currency note from Neelam, given to her by the prime accused for using the place for this illegal act and managed to abscond along with remaining money during the raid.
