Holy saroop injured with bullet during June 1984 holocaust adorned for Sangat to pay obeisance

Amritsar:The holy saroop (scripture) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib injured with bullet during the army attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib by Congress Government of India in June 1984, were today adorned/enshrined for the Sangat to have darshan (glimpse) at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Gurbakhsh Singh near Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

For the first time in 37 years, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) adorned this holy saroop for the Sangat to have darshan last year and the same has been done this year also.

The Sangat will have the opportunity to have darshan of this holy saroop at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Gurbakhsh Singh everyday from morning to evening till June 5. Arrangement has also been made for the Sangat to show the bullet that had hit this holy saroop.

Giani Rajdeep Singh, Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib performed the service of adorning this holy saroop at the Gurdwara Sahib and the information about the relics was shared with the Sangat by Giani Gurmukh Singh, Head Granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Giani Gurmukh Singh said that this injured holy saroop is a truth telling picture of the atrocities perpetrated on the Sikh Qaum (community/nation) and by seeing this the heart of every human being gets filled with anguish. He said the Sikh Qaum could never forget this atrocity perpetrated on the Sikhs.

Speaking of this occasion, former senior vice-president of SGPC S. Surjit Singh said that the then Congress Government of India gave deep wounds to the Sikhs by attacking Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib in June 1984. He said it is important to apprise the coming generations about the brutal assault carried out by the government of our own country and under the same initiative, the decision was taken to adorn the injured holy saroop for the Sangat to have its darshan.

Earlier, the hazuri raagis jathas (Gurbani singh groups) of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib connected the Sangat with Gurbani Kirtan and the ardas (prayer) was offered by Bhai Gurcharan Singh.

Those present on this occasion included SGPC member Surjit Singh, Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Khushwinder Singh, Sukhwarsh Singh, Head Granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurmukh Singh, assistant secretary media Kulwinder Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Sulakhan Singh, superintendent Malkeet Singh, manager Harpreet Singh, Satnam Singh, additional managers and other key officials.
