Los Angeles: Legendary singer Lionel Richie has revealed that he doesn’t know how to read or write music.

The 66-year-old veteran musician, who has all time hits like “Hello,” “All Night Long,” “Easy” and “I Call It Love” to his credit, said he would have been a landscape architect or interior designer if not a singer, reported US magazine.

“I don’t know how to read or write music,” Richie said. “If I didn’t spend my career singing, I would have been a landscape architect or interior designer,” he added. The record producer also opened up about his shopping experience with Nelson Mandela, calling it “incredible”. “I took Nelson Mandela shopping in 1990. It was an incredible moment,” he said. Apart from his music Richie is currently busy in restoring his family house in Tuskegee, Alabama, that he grew up in. It was given to his grandparents as a gift from Booker T Washington. — PTI
