Mumbai: The Indian textile market is poised on a growth trajectory of $350 billion by 2030, besides textile exports expected to reach $100 billion, even as the ‘Global Textile Technology & Engineering Show’ (GTTES) 2025 takes centerstage to drive technological innovation in achieving this vision through its event this year.
This textile industry’s landmark third edition show is being held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from February 21 to February 23, 2025 for highlighting global textile innovation including state-of-the-art advancement in weaving, processing, finishing, garments, knitting and technical textiles with eco-friendly practices and sustainable growth.
Ketan Sanghvi, chairman, India International and Textile Machinery Exhibitions (ITME), said here recently that GTTES is a transformative event responding to the global textile and machinery industry’s changing needs, while transforming India into a global leader in textile technology and engineering by 2047.
“The GTTES is an exclusive forum to explore the fascinating world of textiles through stunning displays, interactive installations and thought-provoking artwork,” Sanghvi said while noting that the textile industry accounts for 13% of industrial production, 2.3% of GDP and 12% of foreign exchange inflows into the nation, besides India having a 4% share of the global trade in textile and apparel.
Besides GTTES 2025 bringing in 175 exhibitors across eight major categories, including 42 exhibitors in weaving and 38 in processing, he said the event would become a hub for advanced textile technologies in also highlighting green technologies and sustainable solutions.
Participation of leading suppliers of textile technologies from 27 countries including Germany, Switzerland, China, Australia, Bangladesh, China and USA is expected during GTTES which is estimated to draw over 25,000 professionals, besides B2B meetings of international delegations from Sri Lanka, Ghana and Ethiopia aimed at further cementing trade collaboration with India.
Sanghvi said that the Indian ITME Society has organized massive events like India ITME, ITME Africa & Middle East, and GTTES to capture global attention to strengthen fabric preparation and processing by expanding India’s wings in knitting and garmenting techniques, besides attracting international exhibitors, visitors and investors.
“We plan to make India a one-stop shop for textiles, garments and lifestyle shifts globally, even as the GTTES is all set to calibrate the Indian textile ecosystem,” he said, adding that startups are also now becoming effective in this sector with the promise of such businesses increasing in Tier II and Tier III cities.
