Industry expansion & developing clusters in 22 Haryana districts

Talking to media persons, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khatter said that according to new Industry Policy-2020 there is proposal to develop industry in 22 districts in the state so that industrial development should not be restricted to a handful districts in the state, which would create sources of employment opportunities in every district across the state. He said, permission has already been granted to 30800 micro, small and medium industries in Haryana state to provide employment to 1312500 workers. He said active industry in the state  at present restricted to only in few districts Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonepat and Rohtak telling that new industry policy-2020 would be ready by month August this year.

According to state data, there are  about 116700 nicro, small and medium industrial units in the state and so far 55935 industrial units has applied for permission to start their units lying closed due to lock down in the state, which include 36672 units in urban areas and 20246 units in rural areas in which 2186098 persons would have employment opportunities. Information also reveals that 1448 brick kilns in Haryana state has also been permitted to start production as such 298046 labourers working in these bricks kilns have already returned to their work place. Khatter said that Haryana state government has already discussed with large number of foreign companies presently having manufacturing units in China are now willing to shift their business to other countries, of them nearly 60 compnaies has expressed desire to make investment in India preferring to set up industrial units in Haryana state now expecting foreign investment between Rs 1500 to 2000 crore and these companies were impressed with the roadmap to develop clusters in Haryana state, having plenty of land for installayion of industry, single window system to establish industry, easy availability of labourers at cheaper rates and 24 hours power supply.

According to new Industry Policy-2020, Faridabad is already having large number of automobile components and Food products manufacturing units which would be further strengthened. Similarly, Gurugram is popular for production of automobiles, auto components, electronic products and IT industry, Sonepat is popular for textile mills, manufacturing agriculture implements and auto components. There is plan to further expand industry in the same sectors in future. According to new industry policy Rohtak will be developed as a manufacturing centre for all types of engineering products, Sirsa will be developed for food processing industry, Hisar known as ‘Steel Town’ already having several steel production units will further be developed for iron and steel units in coming years.

There is planning for Bhiwani presently popular for production of cloth will be further developed in the same field besides having food products industry, Fatehabad and Jind would be diversified in the field of food processing and iron and steel production, Mohindergarh will be developed for mustard oil industries, Rewari to be developed as a hub for automobile components, Nuh to be developed in the production of pharmaceuticals and chemicals, Ambala known as ‘Science City’ presently having more than 1000 units producing scientific instruments used in educational and medical institutes will be developed further in same sector, twin city Yamunanagar and Jagadhari already known for manufacturing plywood and metal utensils respectively across the country would further be developed in the same fields as per new industry policy There is planning to develop Panchkula as another IT cenre in North, Charkhi Dadri will be developed for oil industries, Kurukshetra will be developed for production pf paper, Jhajjar to be developed as a hub for manufacturing footwaers, Karnal to be developed for packaging and pharmaceutical industries
