Insurance industry makes big gen next leap in customer health

The insurance industry is making a ‘Gen-Next’ leap in its health sector with the latest entrant ‘Watch Your Health’ – a new age InsureTech innovator – empowering health insurers in customer engagement while providing holistic online  and offline wellness services to health insurance policy holders.

Where earlier the health insurers role was limited to providing the policy, the present is witnessing the policy-holders being made aware of their health status and ways and means of overcoming health problems, while also earning rewards in the process, according to Ratheesh Nair, Founder and CEO, WatchYourHealth.com India Pvt Ltd.

Nair told mediapersons here today that WatchYourHealth is a startup that has successfully developed customized ProActiv living portal and ProActiv mobile applications that help various companies including Cigna TTK Health Insurance Company’s policy holders to assess their health, enroll in lifestyle management and monitor their progress towards better health.

“The future of insurance is customer engagement and our technological innovations and ultra-customised tools enable and empower companies for enhanced customer experience in a fast-evolving digital age,” he said while pointing out that professionally qualified coaches would guide and mentor policy holders in weight management programs, sleep monitoring, water intake reminders and even quitting addiction, among other things.

“We are trying to build health as a culture by being enablers for life and health insurance companies where holistic wellness is changing in India and lots of companies are tying up with us as there is need for engagement using digital transformation which is scalable. We recommend activities like gymnasium, yoga, diet, water intake and life coaches, while urging people to take ‘baby steps’ and “walk-the-talk” through 10,000 steps daily and losing two kgs per month. Once we define a pattern for them, we track their lifestyle,” he said, adding that customers gets 20% of their premium back if they successfully follow the programme.

Replying to questions, he said “We help customers to do self-assessment (blood test, exercising how much etc). Different companies have different reward points and we are empowering/facilitating taking care of the back end, while the companies offer the rewards. We also do disease management programmes, which have different handholding,” he said while noting that the startup has tied up with four out of the 58 insurance companies in the market.
