International Women’s Day: TWOS-2022 held, Punjab Governor gives away awards to women achievers

Chandigarh (Kulbir Kalsi): Hon’ble Punjab Governor and UT Chandigarh Administrator Banwari Lal Purohit  gave away awards to 29 prominent women achievers on the occasion International Women’s Day. The governor also unveiled a Coffee Table Book on the occasion.

“International Women’s Day is celebrated globally to mark the success and achievements of women in social, economic, cultural and political spheres. Women are an epitome of strength, empathy, compassion and sacrifice. They seamlessly carry on so many roles of daughter, wife, caring mother or professional,” said Shri Purohit at Touch Woman of Substance (TWOS-2022) award ceremony at Hyatt Regency here.

Dr Preeti Jindal, President of Mohali Obstetrics & Gynecology Society and Director of the Touch Clinic informed the gathering that the ‘Touch Woman of Substance’ award function has been organized by The Touch Clinic for many years. “It is a matter of great pride for us that deserving women achievers received their awards from the hands of Punjab Governor Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, which will lead to  a new enthusiasm, hope and self-esteem among them and other women as well,” Dr Preeti Jindal said. Dr Jindal is a renowned Gynecologist, IVF, High Risk Pregnancy,  Aesthetic and Regenerative Gynecology specialist .

 “In today’s event, the women who have done exceptional work in any walk of life have been awarded. An eminent jury panel comprising Touch Team, distinguished women of society, media persons and social workers chose the winners on the basis of strict criteria,” said Dr Jindal.

 The winners included 29 women of different professions; there were doctors, bureaucrats, fashion designers, architects, national level sports women, make-up artists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, hoteliers, lawyers, educationists, journalists, bloggers and builders. They were shortlisted from the age group of 11 years to 60 plus years.

 This year’s International Women’s Day theme is ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.’

The event was held to express appreciation, respect and love for all the incredible women in our lives and  also to show that the society is proud of the efforts of women.  The event also highlighted the need to create a world where women do not have to face any discrimination.
