The International yoga day is round the corner with a message to spread awareness about the holistic nature of yoga and promote it for better mental and Physical health. International Yoga Day is observed on 21st June and it was proclaimed by The United Nations in 2014, following a proposal from PM Narendra Modi. The Global celebration of International day of yoga will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, while In India the celebrations will be led by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar In Madhya Pradesh. The theme for this year of Yoga Day is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva kutumbakam” ie yoga for Humanity.
Yoga is a practice that makes your life disciplined. It can be called as Art and science of healthy living. Though Yoga originated thousands of years ago but still in this modern age people have faith in it as it has transformed their lives. To gather more information on this we spoke to few women of the society who are practicing yoga every day.
According to Vandana Arora, a wellness Expert and also a cancer survivor, Yoga has completely transformed her life, for her yoga has played a very important role in healing her mentally, physically and emotionally. After gaining faith in yoga she decided to get proper training of it and has now become a certified wellness Expert. As a Yoga instructor she had trained many women in Delhi and Noida now. According to her people should spare some time everyday from their busy schedule before going to the office or after coming back so that they can overcome or fight the disease like conditions. Body Stretching is a must for everyone esp. Talasana, Hastapadasana, Pawanmuktasana, Katichakrasan and Konaasana should be practiced every day. Replying to our question on increase of Heart attack cases in Gyms etc, Vandana said people are not aware that after doing heavy exercises in Gyms it is important to bring the body to a normal temperature, because of which heart attack cases have increased. For which she suggests cooling Pranayam. Post Covid- 19 and after vaccine also people have reported symptoms of fatigue, difficulty in breathing and shortness of Breath, Blood pressure issues etc and to overcome this one must start doing yoga immediately, she adds. Yoga can also help you burn calories, manage stress and improve your mood says Jasleen, a Maths Teacher, who is doing yoga from past four years.
Manisha Sharma, a retired teacher says that with Continuous practice, yoga can improve blood flow, prevent constipation and Bloating and help with the management of chronic conditions like bowl syndrome. She is 80 years old now but never forgets to practice Uttanasana and Marjaryasana for stomach. Same is the case with Shakuntala Sharma who does Anulom Vilom to get relief from stress and Anxiety.
Although, Yoga has its roots in Ancient India. It aims to bring harmony between the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional aspects of a person. According to Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, If anyone is suffering from hypertension it can easily be controlled by Yoga and pranayam. He says pranayams like Kapalbhati, Anulom Vilom, Bhramari, Shitali, Shitkari, Udgeeth, Sukshma Vyayayam, Bhastrika and Asanas like Bhujangasana, Mandukasan, Ardh halasana are best to control hypertension. The World Health Organization (WHO) says approx 113 crore people suffer from high Blood pressure across the world, with 40 Crores only in India. It is a silent killer and women suffer more than men with High Blood Pressure.
Yoga is essential for everybody it not only keeps us healthy but makes us more flexible. This is the reason why Yoga is not only limited to common men but our celebrities world over have adopted it. Stars like Shilpa Shetty, Kareena kapoor, Malaika arora, Akshay Kumar , Sachin tendulakar, lara Dutta, Sonam kapoor practice yoga everyday to keep themselves mentally and physically fit. International stars like Dua Lipa, Jennifer Aniston, Resse witherspoon, lady Gaga etc are also yoga lovers.
