Fatehabad: Fast Track Court Fatehabad in Haryana sentenced a 63-year-old self-styled god man Amarveer alias known as Amarpuri alias Jalebi Baba against whom allegations for raping large number of women including a minor were framed a couple of days ago has been sentencedimprisonment for 14 years along with Rs 35000 fine for raping more than 100 women and making their nude video. Baba was arrested by Women Police Station Fatehabad district in July 2018 after complaints were lodge by two women. Investigation revealed, the accused used to drug the women approached him for assistance and not only raped them in the state of unconsciousness and also prepared their nude video. He used to videotape the act and then blackmailing them demanding money from the victims threatening to release their video on social media.
Additional District Session Judge Balwant Singh announced 14 years’ jail under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act for raping a minor twice, 7 years jail each in two rape cases under Section 376-C of the Indian Penal Code and 5-year jail under Section 67-A of the IT Act. He was, however, acquitted in a case against Arms Act and all the sentences will run concurrently as per court’s order and the god man will have to spend 14 years behind bars in jail, the counsel of the victims told media persons. Although he has already spent nearly four and half years in jail during trial in the case and self-styled god man will have to stay for another more than nine years behind the bars However, the accused was acquitted in the Arms Act.
According to 200 page charge sheet submitted in the court and more than 20 witnesses whose statements were recorded when the case was under trial in the court after the accused Amarpuri was arrested by the police on July 19, 2018 from Tohana in Fatehabad district by a informer shown a sex video clip to SHO Tohana police station and during raid recovered nearly 120 purported sex video clips from his mobile phone of alleged accuse along with a pistol, live cartridges, blank video cassettes, intoxicated tablets and other objectionable material and the accused God man was booked under sections 292, 293, 294, 376, 384, 509 of the Indian penal code and section 67-A of the IT act. Earlier in 2017, the accused Godman Amarveer was also booked under Sections 328, 376, 506 of the Indian penal code at Tohana city police station on a complaint filed by a woman and the case was handed over for investigation to then Fatehabad women’s police cell in charge Bimla Devi who confirmed that more than 100 sex video clippings were recovered from the mobile phone of the accused. In the meantime two of the victims came forward and lodged complaints against Baba sexually assaulted them in the state of unconsciousness, though it was not verified whether their videos were also prepared. Investigation in the case further revealed that the females used to come to the self-styled God man said to be a ‘Tantrik’ to resolve their family problems and sexually assaulted by him after they were offered some intoxicated liquid making them unconscious, later start blackmailing them to extract money.
Information about Jalebi Baba reveals that Amarveer a widower and father of six children was originally hailing from Mansa in Punjab, shifted to Tohana in 1984 and started a small ‘jalebi’ shop there for about 13 years where he met a Tantrik (occultist) who brought him into the occult practices. He disappeared from Tohana for several years, when returned back with some ‘Tantrik’ knowledge built own house and a temple where the followers, mostly women started visiting him to resolve their problems and were trapped in baba’s net.
