New Delhi: The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) President, Syed Sadatullah Husaini, has expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the huge loss of life and destruction caused by the deadly earthquake of 7.8 magnitudes that struck Turkey and Syria early Monday (February 6, 2023) morning.
According to the latest report, more than 16,000 persons, including 12,973 in Turkey and 3,162 in Syria have died in this natural calamity.
“The incident reminds us of the helplessness of humanity before the Almighty God,” the JIH chief said in a media statement.
Husaini also wished speedy recovery to those injured in the earthquake.
“I express my condolences to the bereaved families and pray to the Almighty God for a speedy recovery to those injured in the natural calamity. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind expresses its solidarity with the people affected by the earthquake and will do its best to extend assistance to the victims in all possible ways,” the JIH leader said further in the statement.
Husaini appreciated the Government of India’s quick offer to provide humanitarian aid to the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria. He also appealed to the Government of India to increase the quantum of relief if needed.
The JIH leader also appealed to the Indian public to contribute generously to the relief if the Indian government makes a provision for the general public to contribute to humanitarian assistance for the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria.
