Jatehdar Akal Takht condemns removal of Giani Harpreet Singh by SGPC

Amritsar, February 13 Jatehdar Akal Takht Gyani Raghbir Singh condemned the dismissal of services of Takht Damdama Sahib Jatehdar Gyani Harpreet Singh.

Presently Jatehdar Gyani Raghbir Singh was in England tour where through his social media Facebook post said the way Gyani Harpreet Singh was removed was highly condemnable and a direct attack on sovereignty of the highest Sikh temporal seat Akal Takht.

“Earlier December 2, 2024 I had asked the SGPC the way they have formed enquiry committee to enquire 18 years old family issues was totally wrong. Moreover, SGPC have no power to hold enquiry against the sitting jatehdar.  Only jatehdar Akal Takht has power  to hold enquiry against the sitting jatehdar. But here SGPC has insulted Gyani Harpreet Singh”, said he in his facebook post.

However, On February 10 The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee on Monday dismissed the services of Giani Harpreet Singh as the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.

The decision came in the SGPC’s executive committee meeting which was held here. The committee accepted the report of the three-member committee, which was formed to probe the allegations against Giani Harpreet Singh.
