Bengaluru : Speculation for past couple of weeks on possible pre-poll tie-up, Janata Dal (Secular) headed by party supremo and former PM HD Deve Goweda, formally joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The decision was announced by BJP chief JP Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah after JD(S) CM HD Kumaraswamy met them in Delhi on Friday.
Kumaraswamy however said discussions on seat-sharing will be finalised after Dasara festival, though former BNJP CM BS Yediyurappa had said weeks earlier that the regional party would get four seats in its borough, Old Mysuru region, in the general elections. Karnataka has 28 lok sabha seats.
In a post on X, JP Nadda said “ i am happy JD(S) has decided to be party NDA”. He further expressed that his alliance will further strengthen the NDA and the vision of PM Modi for ‘New India, Strong India’.
Amit Shah wrote “Expressing their trust in Modi’s vision of development India, JD(S) has decided to be part of the NDA. I warmly welcome JD(S) to the NDA family. Their association will leade Karnataka on the path of development and pave the way for a stronger NDA and a strong India.”
