J&K Govt suspends Amarnath Yatra due to inclement weather

Jammu and Kashmir Government has temporarily suspended Amarnath Yatra from Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam toward the holy cave shrine due to inclement weather.

No yatri is being allowed to go ahead of Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam towards the holy cave due to rains, an official was quoted by the local agencies to have said. 

Yatra, the official added, has been suspended for the safety of the pilgrims. Around 3000 pilgrims are staying at Nunwan base camp for the onward march to the holy cave shrine.

Meanwhile, officials said, that around 65,000 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the cave shrine so far.

Amarnath Yatra commenced on June 30 and will conclude on August 11 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
