High altitude areas of Kashmir received season’s first snowfall on Thursday bringing the mercury down across the union territory (UT).
Famous scenic resorts such as Gulmarg and Sonamarg came under heavy snowfall. Gulmarg recorded minus 2 degrees Celsius temperature.
Far-flung Gurez Valley has also witnessed heavy snowfall.
Early snowfall has come as a boon for tourism in the region as it draws more people across the mainland India to visit the Valley.
The Meterological department in Srinagar has predicted light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall in the higher reaches of J&K during the next 24 hours.
Srinagar recorded 6.4 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 3.2 and Gulmarg minus 2 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.
