New Delhi : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s comment over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. Responding to Adityanath’s statement on the issue, Kejriwal suggested that the Uttar Pradesh CM, known for his claims of eliminating gangster activities in his state, should assist Union Home Minister Amit Shah in addressing similar challenges in the national capital on Friday.

“Yogi has rightly pointed out the worsening law and order situation in Delhi. Gangsters are openly extorting businessmen, demanding Rs 3-4 crore. Women feel unsafe, and crimes such as chain snatching and dacoity are on the rise,” Kejriwal stated during a press conference.

The AAP leader urged Adityanath to offer “pro tips” to Shah, under whose ministry the Delhi Police functions. “If Yogi has successfully eradicated gangster raj in Uttar Pradesh, he should guide Amit Shah on how to do the same in Delhi,” Kejriwal said.

This exchange comes amid mounting political tensions as Delhi prepares for the Assembly elections scheduled for February 5. Kejriwal also accused the BJP of politicizing his security arrangements, alleging that the withdrawal of Punjab Police personnel assigned to his protection was a deliberate move to jeopardize his safety.

On Thursday, Kejriwal claimed his vehicle was attacked by supporters of a rival candidate, allegedly with the tacit approval of Shah. The Delhi Police, however, has refuted these allegations, asserting that no such incident occurred.

“The withdrawal of my Punjab Police security is nothing but pure politics,” Kejriwal said, adding, “This move not only undermines my safety but also reflects the BJP’s desperation as elections approach.”

The Punjab Police later clarified that the withdrawal of Kejriwal’s security detail was carried out on the directives of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission. Meanwhile, the BJP has remained silent on Kejriwal’s allegations.

Kejriwal’s remarks underline the heightened rhetoric and political maneuvering as the electoral battle heats up in the capital. With law and order and personal security becoming central to the political discourse, these issues are expected to remain contentious in the run-up to the polls.
