Haryana has sanctioned six research projects with a budget of Rs 1 crore, which inlcude two projects for early detection and treatment of cancer disease. The budget will be further increased so that quality research could be carried out. Under the Research and Development scheme, Rs 20 lakh is sanctioned to the scientists also working as professors of education or research institute in Kurukshetra University for carrying out research in the field of science and technology, said Ashok Khemka, Principal Secretary Science & Technology department. He said that the six research projects sanctioned include one each for treatment of cancer, development of hybrid perovskite based energy harvesters for small area devices, wastewater remediation, early cancer detection technique, detection of prompcine Viral Pathogene Using Next Generation Sequencing Technology and production of bioethanol from Parthenium: Parthenium hysterophorus, which is also known as congress grass and is one of the world’s most devastating weeds.
Dr Jitender Bhardwaj, while talking to media persons said that after a research work an organic compound has been prepared which will attack cancer cells bein g spread in the body and patent in this regard has been obtained to manufacture medicine capable to combat the disease leaving no effect on other cells in the body, since the compound stops formation of new cells as well as control spreading cancer cells in the body. Scientist Pavan Sharma working on this project since past over a year said that since patent has been sought and rady for the human trial when manufacturing of anti-cancer drug Ampotosis (programmed cell death) will commence soon, which would not only stop formation of new cancer cells but also control growth of existing cancer cells in the body, presently being treated by Kemo-therapy and radio-therapy. He said,during the initial trial good results have been obtained.
Dr Bhardwaj said that Ampotosis cells are induced into the cancer affected cells in the body in which good results were obtained as compared to other medicines for the treatment of cancer disease, without leaving any side effect on the body. Dr Bhardwaj said that growth of cancer cells in the human body is a Biological Process in which a part of the body gets diffused and becomes out of control resulting in an increase in the number of cancer cells which takes athe shape of a tumor in the beginning stage and gradually becomes a cancer cell.
