BALTUSROL (US) — India’s Anirban Lahiri failed to make the cut with a three-over 73 in the second round, that left him four shots below the cut on the second day of the 98th PGA Championship.
Lahiri’s one birdie and four bogeys saw him tumble down the leaderboard.
Lahiri got off to a terrible start with bogeys on the first and third holes. That set the trend for the day, even though he stemmed the rot for the next seven holes. A bogey on the 11th and 12th holes ended his hopes of making the cut. A birdie on 18th came as some consolation. Lahiri’s bad performance does not augur well as he will next represent India at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Jimmy Walker, who missed the cut at the Open, continued his fine form with nine-under. He was tied in first place with fellow American Robart Streb. Open winner Henrik Stenson was in fifth place. Among the other big names, Jordan Spieth was tied 13th and Jason Day was tied third. Danny Willett was tied 61st and Rory McIlroy failed to make the cut. — PTI
