ACP Ambala Nitika expressing concern over rising cases of liquor smuggling due to closure of all liquor vends in the state during lock down in the state warned people to beware of a handful cheats declaring offers on Facebook and WhatsApp to delivery liquor at the door. She said, a similar offer was reported to police on social media by some cheat from Housing Board Colony Sector 9 Ambala City from mobile phone number no. 7699734366 advising to remit payment in Pay TM when ordered liquor would be delivered within an hour. Police cyber crime cell Ambala after investigation detected that both mobile number as well as address were fake. Similarly, Haryana police has warned cheating in PM Care Fund demanding on-line donation towards corona relief fund. Navdeep Singh Virk Additional DGP Law & Order has strictly warned against such cheaters prepared similar fake website links demanding on-line donations for COVID-19.
Although, lock down has proved harmful for people in trade and industry in Haryana state, but on the other hand it has proved boon for those involved in preparing and smuggling liquor. Although, Excise & Taxation department has sealed about a dozen liquor vends in Ambala district but information reveals that supply of liquor from these sealed liquor vends is still going on illegally. Sevrasl cases of liquor smuggling has been reported to police in past couple of days. Rodi police station in Hisar district busted a gang of four persons manufacturing Desi liquor since a long time near Ghaggar river. Jagdish Chander SHO told that during raid police seized 3020 kg ‘Lahan’, 29 bags ‘Gud”, 6 LPG cylinders, 3 burners and other miscellaneous goods required for manufacturing Desi liquor from the site and arrested all preaparing liquor were residing in nearby ‘jhuggis’ sent to judicial custody in jail.
In another case, near village Talwandi Rana, Hisar police stopped a canter at the barrier and recovered 225 cases English wine hidden under a sheet in canter being carried to Fatehabad and arrested Sunil Kumar resident of village Samana. Bhuna police station seized 2700 bottles English wine being carried from Punjab to Adampur in Tata 407 vehicle near Kainchi Chowk and arrested two persons sitting in the vehicle. During surprise raid at the office of a wine contractor Mukesh Gupta at Mahabir Colony Hisar police recovered 51 cases Desi liquor, more than Rs 35 lakh currency notes and 115 live cartridges from a almirah. However, Mukesh managed to escape from yhe site and a case was registered by the police.
Meanwhile, Saha police station in Ambala district on a clue seized 117 cases liquor being unloaded from a car bearing Punjab registration number at village Hasanpur. In another case, Barara police station in Ambala district on a information seized 350 quarter bottles wine from a house under construction at New Colony.
