Maha CM highlights coop sector role in State Development

Mumbai: The cooperative sector contributes in a huge way in development of the State including Solapur district, which is a “sugar” belt and water lift irrigation schemes for this crop will be finalised on priority basis, said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during inauguration of the 27th sugarcane crushing season in Solapur amidst state ministers and officials. 

Around 2.5 lakh hectares of land has been brought under irrigation alongside these schemes and the water conservation department will be meeting to resolve the Ritewadi lift irrigation scheme in Karmala taluka here where development projects will be completed with priority, he said. 

Highlighting Maharashtra’s revenue and health departments’ implementation of innovative schemes for public welfare, Shinde said that 4.5 crore women are being attended to through health tests under the “Mata Surakshit Tar Ghar Surakshit” (If Mother is secure, then home is secure) scheme.

The Chief Minister – while noting that a review of the “Genome Sequencing” system is being done — also urged Guardian Ministers in the State to make ready health facilities in view of the worsening global Covid situation, and also maintain vigilance while preventing panic in this regard. 

There are presently 2216 Covid-treatment hospitals with 1.34 lakh isolation beds in Maharashtra and all concerned officials have been directed by him to implement the Central Government’s advisory for Testing, Tracking, Treatment, Vaccination, and observing Covid protocols against the Corona Virus, Shinde said.

The Maharashtra Government will work with total transparency alongside making the State corruption-free, and veteran social activist Anna Hazare’s demands in this regard are being translated into reality now as this government is a “pro-people” one, he added. 

Helping farmers in distress is another governmental effort for which Rs 4,800 crores – out of the approved Rs 19,000 crores — has been distributed, besides Rs 2,500 crores being deposited in the accounts of 6.90 lakh farmers under the loan-waiver encouragement grant, Shinde said.

In view of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s advice, the Maharashtra Government has reinstated all State government schemes and facilities for people residing along the disputed Maharashtra-Karnataka border, including expansion of the Rs 2,000-crore Mhaisal Scheme for potable and irrigation water to 48 villages in Jat Taluka, the Chief Minister added.
