Maha CM Shinde highlights Cleanliness, Fisherfolk Colonies Tourism

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently assured availability of funds for developing and beautifying the “Fisherfolk Colonies” and adjoining areas as Tourist Spots, besides four fishing boats damaged in accidents being given financial assistance.

Work on these colonies  including clean roads, water, jetty and food courts  would be completed by March 2024, he said.

Meanwhile, Shinde  while wielding a broom and sweeping in the cleanliness drive that began October 2 and witnessed also the Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais and other officials joining in this effort covering 72,000 places in urban and rural areas of Maharashtra  emphasized “cleanliness becoming a reality” and not just on paper  by directing the officials to ensure cleaning of public toilets and lavatories +five times a day+ not only on seashores and main chowks, but also on small roads and bylanes, slum areas and drainages.

The Chief Minister, while visiting Mumbai areas as part of the “Öne Date  One Hour”campaign, gave a patient ear to civic issues raised by local residents.

Shinde also highlighted making the transformation of residential colonies housing sanitation workers, who were responsible for keeping Mumbai city clean and beautiful in all types of weather.

Speaking here recently during a cleanliness drive visit to these colonies, he said an independent team will immediately make a review of facilities provided in these workers’ colonies, for which directions were given to the administration.

Toilets should be improved, study centers with facilities and the Balasaheb Thackeray Apla Dawakhana should be set up alongside the Municipal Corporation preparing a scheme of higher education to children of sanitation workers, he said.

Where construction of two buildings in these colonies had been stalled, he gave directions for completing the building work in two shifts.

The Chief Minister said that sacrifices by freedom fighters for liberation of Marathwada would never be forgotten and its development projects was witnessing over Rs 60,000 crores being approved, besides its connection to the Marathwada Prosperity Corridor  and the Nagpur Goa Power Center Corridor.
