New Delhi : Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee was practically furious after hearing the news of the huge number of MPs suspension. She said, “What is going on is absolutely not desirable. I am lucky not to an MP anymore now”. Mamata Banerjee said, “Saugat Roy is a top senior leader. He was not spared either. Suspended everyone, in this way the entire house is suspended This behavior is being done so that the opposition cannot move on various issues.”
In Mamata’s words, “The Law Bill is very important. Despite having such a majority, BJP is afraid. So the opposition is being suspended. This is ridiculous for democracy. By stifling the voice of the opposition, the voice of the common people is being stifled”.
Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, Shatabdi Roy, Prasoon Banerjee, Pratima Mandal, Aparupa Poddar, Saugat Roy, Kalyan Banerjee, Sunil Mandal, Asit Mal, total 9 Trinamool MPs from Loksabha. Sukhendshekhar Roy, Shamirul Islam, Mausam Noor, Abir Ranjan Biswas, Shantanu Sen, Nadimul Haque, total 8 Trinamool MPs were suspended. Rajya Sabha Trinamool MP Sukhendushekhar Roy said, “We have raised questions about security in Parliament.” We have demanded a statement from the Home Minister. He can speak on television channels, the Prime Minister can open his mouth to special media and Parliament is going on. Why not speak here? Trinamool MPs and other opposition parties were suspended for making this demand. This act of stifling dissenting voices is highly reprehensible”.
On the 13 December, some young people breached the Security of the Lok Sabha and carried out a gas attack. So far 6 people have been arrested by Delhi Police. An on-site investigation into the security incident is underway. At the beginning of the session of the parliament today, the opposition started demanding a statement from the home minister on the security breach issue.
Meanwhile, around the same time, Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee sat in a meeting with the parliamentary party at Banga Bhaban in Delhi, this news reached there. Hearing that, she practically burst into anger. She said, “What is going on in the parliament is not desirable at all. Lucky that I am no longer an MP”. All the MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were present in Mamata Banerjee’s meeting that day. And significantly, Mahua Maitra was also present in this meeting. A few days ago, he was expelled from the Lok Sabha for raising questions about money in Parliament. The entire party including Mamata Banerjee stood by him. In this situation, Mahua’s presence in this meeting is quite important.
