*What will be the alliance figure? Mamata’s proposal, let the Congress contest two seats in the Bengal, leave one in Meghalaya
New Delhi : The INDIA alliance’s future hangs in the fine string, seat compromise by December 31 is considered virtually impossible. This is what the political circles think after the ‘India Alliance’ meeting in Delhi. However, although there was a long discussion in today’s meeting, the RAFA Sutra was not clearly agreed It is probably still not clear how to match.
According to the sources, the results of the Congress in the three states have been discussed many times in today’s meeting Congress has practically been washed away there. The Congress camp had to hear harsh criticism from other anti-BJP parties over this defeat. According to sources, Mamata Banerjee was practically silent in this whole process. When Sonia Gandhi requested her to speak, she discussed the details one by one point.
Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee’s biggest strategy change at India Alliance meeting. So far, Mamata Banerjee’s name was being floated by the Trinamool as the leader of the alliance. But the Trinamool leader herself proposed the name of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge as the leader of the India alliance in the alliance meeting. Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal again supported Mamata’s proposal. She made her position clear at the beginning of the speech. She said, ‘There is nothing to talk about. First discuss the seat sharing formula’. In fact, from the beginning she was trying to reach a political end of the anti-BJP alliance, it goes without saying. Even today, she has been seen taking a positive role in that sense. After that she gave several suggestions to Rahul Gandhi. She said that the Congress should talk to Akhilesh Yadav first in UP-ruled Delhi and Punjab and in Uttar Pradesh.
After that she also came to the context of West Bengal. Mamata today suggested that Trinamool is ready to fight in West Bengal leaving two seats to Congress. Mamata also wants to know the position of the Congress on which two seats will be vacant. She also said that in Meghalaya Trinamool got more votes than Congress in terms of percentage. She said to leave one seat for Trinamool Congress there. Mamata has proposed that the Congress should fight in three hundred seats across the country.
It was discussed, the seat sharing formula should be completed by december 31. In the fourth meeting of the India Alliance in New Delhi, the Trinamool has virtually given a deadline to the Congress. Abhishek and Derek were also present with Mamata on behalf of Trinamool in the meeting of this day in New Delhi. Several other opposition parties supported this proposal of Mamata Banerjee.
However, at the end of the day’s meeting, there was no conclusion as to what will be the formula for seat allocation in states like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh. Because in these states there are several parties like Trinamool Congress, Left Front, Samajwadi Party, BSP, which are rivals in their respective states. After the meeting, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav avoided the question when Mayawati’s BSP was asked to land in the INDIA platform or about the seat sharing. Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee walked out without facing the reporters and joined in the Joint Press Conference. However, the confusion about the future of the alliance in West Bengal has increased due to the words of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
After the meeting, Mallikarjun Kharge named several states and said that the state Congress leaders in those states will talk to other parties and try to finalize the seats. Although the Congress president did not name West Bengal. Kharge said, “State level leaders will try to fix seats by talking to each other.” If that doesn’t work then India alliance leaders will intervene which Seat will be vacated in states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab’.
Mamata Banerjee claimed that even in the recently concluded five state elections, if the Congress had shared seats with the opposition parties, the BJP would not have won so easily. However, it was decided in the meeting today that the joint campaign of the opposition will start from January 30. In addition to this, the India alliance’s partner parties will protest against the expulsion of around 150 MPs from the Parliament together on December 22. The opposition camp will also protest with the demand of extracting 100 percent VVPAT from EVMs.
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal, however, said after the meeting that there was a good discussion today. Very soon seat sharing and joint campaign will also start.
