Manipur violence is the worst crime against humanity: JIH

New Delhi : The Appalling and Deplorable situation unfolding in Manipur is the lowest point for humanity. The timeline of violence stretching to 3 months, highlights the utter failure of governance from both state and central government. Pro-active interventions from central and state governments could have stopped the escalation of violence to such a scale

The horrifying sight of ladies being paraded while unclothed will haunt the nation’s conscience and strike a fatal blow to women’s protection and dignity. This incident has once again revealed the communal rioters’ horrible anti-women attitude.

As usual, the government is talking about “Killing the Messenger” by taking legal action against the social media platforms that made the crime widely known. This is to cover the failure of governance and to deflect attention from the violence itself.

By preventing access to essential information, an internet shutdown destroys democracy. The Internet should be restored immediately.

This should be seen as the rising trajectory of the countless thousands of acts of hate violence against minorities in India that have taken place since 2014. The government should move quickly to put an end to the rioting in Manipur by taking severe punishment against the offenders without giving them any regard whatsoever.
