Pharma industry in the country has played important role during present epidemic outbreak as such decision has been taken by Haryana state government to establish a Bulk Drug Park for manufacture of nearly 53 types of active pharma ingredients used in manufacturing pharmaceutical products, which are presently being imported from China. In order to become self-dependant government has decided to manufacture bulk drug ingredients commonly used to manufacture as many as 41 types of medicines to fight infectious diseases lically in the country. Information reveals, during preliminary survey large number of prominent pharmaceuticals manufacturers has expressed desired to set up their manufacturing units at proposed Bulk Drug Park at Karnal to produce bulk drugs park to be covered in special production liquid scheme (PLI) of government in the centre on which amount worth Rs 7000 crore is being spent on this project.
According to information, bulk drugs also known as basic drugs used as raw material including Hydroxy chloro quiuine, Paracetamol, Sifroximycil, Azithromycine etc. to manufacture pharmaceutical products have much demand not only in the country but also in USA and other countries. Senior Vice President of Haryana Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Association R.L. Sharma said that local manufacturers are facing acute shortage of raw material in the absence of imports from China at present and most of the stockists in the country based at Mumbai holding stocks are charging much higher rates as such there is immediate need to start manufacturing bulk drugs in the country.
State Dug Controller Haryana Narender Ahuja told media persons that nearly 20 prominent manufacturers across the country has expressed keen interest to set up their plants to manufacture 53 types of active pharma ingredients (API) at Karnal and government will extend full support as well as financial aid for purchase of machinery in these units. He said, state government will start work immediately on receipt of guidelines from higher authorities. According to information, Indian pharmaceutical industry is ranking as third biggest manufacturing centre, whereas holding 14th position value-wise across the world.
