Maruti Suzuki to start battery manufacturing unit at Kharkhoda in 400 acre area

Maruti Udyog earlier having its manufacturing units at Manesar and the cyber and millennium city now going to start another unit to manufacture cars in 800 acre area in the Industrial Modern Town (IMT) at Kharkhoda in Sonipat district sometime back, and the construction work for this project is going on the war footing basis. Production is likely to start in 2025-26. Maruti also took possession of another 100 acre area in this complex this year to start production of motorcycles and work for the construction for the same have yet to start. According to information, in view of heavy demand of electric driven vehicles in future Maruti has decided to start another unit to manufacture batteries and has demanded a 400 acres area from Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation (HSIDC) in IMT at Kharkhoda.

Information reveals that Haryana state government has started search to acquire nearly 5800 acre land from the farmers in 10 villages in surrounding areas of Barona, kiroli, Prahladpur, Pai, Sohti, Jasirkhedi, Kanoda, Khedi Aasir,Kailasi and Nilotha villages on land pooling basis for which either good compensation or an alternate plots in developed area will be provided by the government as per buyers’ choice. According to an officer of HSIDC after the arrival of Maruti Suzuki at Kharkhoda large number of manufacturers are willing to start their automobile ancillary units in IMT Kharkhoda.
