Amritsar : Massive protest was organized here today by various Dalit and Balmik communities here today due to the disrespect to the Statue of Baba Sahib Ambedkar by the accused who was arrested by the police on the spot last evening.

During the protest almost complete Bandh was seen in the city of Amritsar, even educational institutions were forced to shut, the people of the community were seen moving in groups forcing people to shut down their establishments.

Protest organized by the Balmik Samaj was well supported by the SAD (Akali Dal Badal) Congress leadership and many other outfits.

Sant Baba Malkit Nath, leader of Balmik Samaj urged the Government for strict punishment to the accused who extended disrespect to the statue of Baba sahib last evening.  A massive protest was held at the busiest area Bhandari Bridge where anti government slogans were also raised.

Meanwhile heavy security deployment of troops was seen all around the city particularly the spot where the incident occurred yesterday.
