Faridabad: Stepfather, priest and many others raped a minor in a sensational crime reported in Faridabad in which two minors were sexually abused for money. The police was alleged shown negligency in this case since taking no action against a woman residing in a colony of old Faridabad sexually exploiting minors for money running the sex racket and the police took no action against the accused woman inspite of the fact she was taken into custody from the spot. Information revealed that the minor’s stepfather, a priest and others are among accused allegedly involved in sexually abusing the minors. The step father of the victim was also forcibly had physical relations with his daughter and her friend.
According to the police, a minor went missing from Dabua area on April 17. Her family complained about this to the police. The police did not listen to the complainant for five days, when the complaint was given to the child welfare committee and only after this the police registered a case and started search for the minor. Meanwhile, the minor’s friend was found by the family. The mother of the girl told that her daughter was with a woman in a colony of old Faridabad who was sexually exploiting her for money. After this, police, family and CWC members conducted a raid at the spot and the minor was recovered from there. During interrogation, the minor told that her friend had left her there and the aunty (running sex business) with whom she stayed made her drink alcohol and then sent her to two different persons who raped her.She disclosed that in past couple of days she was raped by many people and taken Rs 1200 to send her to a person.
During police raid the minor was found under the influence of liquor. The police arrested the woman running the sex racket from the spot. A young couple was also found in objectionable condition in a room during raid. Duing investigation, the second minor disclosed to the police that her stepfather not only raped her several time but also offered her to his friend for money including a temple priest of age about 66 years, who also forcibly had physical relations with her. According to the police spokesperson, the entire matter is being investigated thoroughly and action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.

Report further revealed that of the total 31,677 rape cases, 28,147 (nearly 89%) of the rapes were committed by persons known to the victim, among those the share of victims who were minors or below 18 included 10%. The report also classified consensual sex committed on the false promise of marriage as rape. Information also reveals that most rapes go unreported in India, although the willingness to reported rapes may have increased in recent past years. According to NCRB 2021 statistics, Rajasthan reported the highest number of rapes among Indian states, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Among metropolitan cities, the national capital of Delhi continued to have the highest incidence of rape at 1,226 cases in 2021, while Jaipur had the highest rape rate (34 per 100,000 population). Kolkata had the least number of registered rape cases among metropolitan cities, with the lowest rape rate.
