Ambala: Information reveals, more than 1400 patients are attending OPD in twin city Ambala civil hospital every day due to severe hot weather, adversely affecting children which include between 150 to 200 daily, usually suffering from vomiting, diarrhea, fever, stomach pain, jaundice, cough & cold, respiratory problem and skin diseases. This correspondent saw patients standing in long queues in the hospital at the registration counters, outside the doctor’s rooms, test laboratory and counters for free supply of medicines.
When talking to the patients standing in long queues at the medicine supply counters for a long time, they expressed deep concern over non-availability of most of the important medicines in the hospital which they have to purchase from the chemist shops outside the hospital. The patients told that out of the total number of five medicines prescribed in the medical slip by the doctors, hardly two to three medicines are available in the civil hospital and rest of the prescribed medicines they have to purchase from outside.
Information reveals, as a result of third degree heat milk producing animals have also been worst affected and milk dairy owners said that the production of milk in animals has witnessed much decline. Information revealed that nearly 2.5 lakh litre milk is produced every day in Ambala district, which has now been reduced to less than 2 lakh litre daily. At the same time demand for ‘lassi’ has increased at present, reaching up to 80,000 litre daily.
Paramjit Singh Vadola, Director VITA Milk Plant Ambala said that the shortage of milk has severely affected their production of milk in their plant, since they are getting nearly 25,000 litre milk less as compared to their routine requirement of milk at present. He said, earlier their plant was producing one lakh litre milk daily, which havs now been reduced to 76,000 litre every day due to non-availability of milk from milk collection centres.
