More than 46,000 graduates-post graduates applied for the job of sweeper in Haryana

More than 46,000 graduates, post graduates and B.Teach have applied for 5,000 jobs of ‘Safai Karamchari that too on contract basis in Haryana, which reflects the situation of rising unemployment in the state for government jobs. The rising level of unemployment has affected even the highly educated youths under Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam youth. Recently, more than 46,000 graduates and post graduates have applied for 5,000 posts of contract sweeper which shows how difficult it is for the youths to get employment even after getting higher education. However, a huge rush is seen for low paying jobs in the state where the situation is turning bad to worst. Information reveals, according to the data of Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam, between 6the  August and 2nd September this year 39,990 graduates and 6,112 post graduates have  applied for this post as  per an advertisement on the Portal. Apart from this, 1,17,144 people who have studied up to 12th class are also applicants for this post having a monthly salary around Rs 15,000.

According to the recent Periodic Labour Force Survey report, the unemployment situation in Haryana is continuously worsening day by day, since the unemployment rate of youth aged 15 to 29 years in urban areas has reached 11.2% in the April-June 2024 quarter from 9.5% earlier. This rate has increased even more for women. These figures show how deep the unemployment crisis has become among the youth as such most of the youths in the country are seen willing to settle abroad. Moreover, frustration among youths is the main reason for increasing crimes as well drug addiction among youths in the country at present.

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, recently while talking to media persons at Chandigarh said that the government has provided 145,000 regular government jobs in the last decade. Apart from this, 37 lakh youth have been given self-employment and job opportunities in the private sector. About 1,20,000 youths have been appointed on contract through Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam. Similarly, some time ago there were six vacancies in Panipat courts for the post of peon in which more than 10,000 youths including MBAs and post-graduates having sufficient working experience appeared for the interview. Most of the youths when questioned said there is no job security in the  private sector.
