Mystery of woman prisoner suffers bullet injury inside Ambala Central Jail, Vij recreates the scene in his presence

Ambala : About 35-year-old woman, a jail inmate Rita Rani suffered a bullet injury on her feet while she was standing along with about 15 other women prisoners under mysterious circumstances inside the Central Jail. Police has failed to find any clue since past over 36 hours in-spite of all efforts by jail security staff and Baldev Nagar police team which reached at the spot soon after the incident and a case was registered against unidentified person under Arms Act. Surprisingly, there is tight security in this jail having 12 feet wall all around in which large number of hard core criminals and gangsters are lodged. The victim was rushed to the civil hospital Ambala City and the bullet was removed after her feet after a surgery. The woman said that she fell after hearing a loud noise, when she got up her foot was bleeding severely. During medical examination and X-ray, it was found that there was a bullet in her foot as a result she also suffered a fracture. She is presently admitted in the hospital and undergoing treatment. The bullet was retrieved and handed over to the Ambala police for investigation.

Superintendent of Central Jail Ambala Sanjeev Patar said that the prisoners were in the open area in the jail premises when mishap took place when the woman suffered a gunshot on her right foot. The scene of crime team and CIA teams arrived and working on this case. He said, the bullet might have been fired from outside the Central Jail surrounded by nearly 12 feet high four wall and it was bullet from an SLR which is only available with either army men or police men. Patar told that they have checked their ammunition and it does not appear that there was any misfire from inside the jail, moreover investigation as regard stocks with the jail security staff has been made and there is no shortage of any bullet raising a question who was the real target. However, the matter is being investigated thoroughly by the police.

Meanwhile, Ambala Superintendent of Police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said   that the jail inmate Rita suffered bullet injury was arrested in a honey trap case alleged in a rape and extortion case suffered bullet injury under mysterious circumstances inside the jail. SHO Baldev Nagar police station said that all on-duty jail officials and inmates who were present there are being involved in the investigation. The scene of crime team, ballistic experts and other teams are working on this case, CCTV footages of all 82 cameras installed inside the jail are being examined the claims of jail staff are being verified and the matter is being investigated from all angles.

Meanwhile, on Friday Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij himself reached central jail along with SP Ambala Jashandeep Singh Randhawa, SHO Baldev Nagar police station, ballistic experts and several other police investigating teams and recreated the crime scene in the case of female prisoner shot in the leg in his presence and also instructed the investigation team to re-create the crime scene from every angles the bullet arrived and hit her leg. Later, during an interaction with the media persons, Vij said that this case is challenging, but our police teams are working to solve it. He told media persons that he himself got recreated the crime scene in his presence to find out from which direction the bullet came and how it hit the female prisoner’s leg. Vij said, after the woman recovers, she will also be brought to the spot to see from which direction the bullet came. He said, jail security staff has been instructed to search the entire jail because it is a very serious matter that it is not known how the bullet hit and where it came from and who was the target since it is a very challenging case to be solved immediately.
